I was brought up in the Stewart Crescent prefabs before moving to the Main Street flats west of
St Serfs (Macainsh) Church and ended up in Park Street after 30 years in Station Road.
My late parents, Tom and Grace, were the only husband and wife to serve on Lochgelly Town Council and Fraser Drive
was named after them.
I started work as a reporter for the Lochgelly
Times and then spent 30 years with Scotsman Publications before joining the Dunfermline Press as sports editor in 1995.
I was also a director of Cowdenbeath FC for
18 years up until their championship success in 2006, their first title win since 1939.
My wife Anne (Howieson) and I bought
Lochgelly Post Office in Bank Street in 1989 and she ran it very successfully until we both retired in 2001.
This site was inspired by an earlier one created by my son Neil and it has been a huge
success with an amazing response from all over the world.
This site, which has had over 85,000 hits, has
regularly been in the top five for Lochgelly out of two million listings on Google for 10 years despite having
no commercial input.
Thanks for visiting my site and I hope you have enjoyed a wee look at our town.
Come back soon.
